I have never been more proud to see my son cry… (March 17, 2020)

Tonight our stroll through the ancient streets Puebla was vibrant and beautiful! Old building, castles, fountains and Cathedrals danced with colors in the night sky. The smell of fresh tacos was in the air; I knew it was going to be a night to remember!

As we walked down through Central Park we met Kevin, a 17 year old handicapped street kid. He has nothing. Literally, nothing! In hopes of making a lil money, he would find trash on the streets and masterfully transform them into little treasures. Our favorite “treasure” was a little motorcycle he made out of an old lighter.

As we attempted to talk with him in our broken Spanish, God stirred my son Micah’s heart. He spoke word’s love and encouragement into Kevin. After we bought a “motorcycle” from Kevin, Micah asked if we could pray for him. We then gave him all the pesos we had left and said our good byes.

As soon as we turned around and began walking away, Micah collapsed in my arms and began to weep. His heart ached for Kevin. He kept saying, “Dad, I want to do more for him. I want to rescue him… But, what I want even more is for him to know Jesus!”

Hugging Micah as tears streamed down his face is a moment that I will never forget. I love my son’s heart for the Lord and people. I am so blessed to be his dad!!
