Our Family loves to go hiking. Despite the thrill of being out in nature and seeing amazing things, there is inevitably a moment during the hike where my kids say, “Dad, how much longer? I can’t go any further.” I tell them, “Don’t worry about how far we have to go. Just take one more step, then one more… I promise you, you will make it and it will be worth it!” This has been the story of our life this past year. God keeps reminding us to trust Him and simply take the next step in front of us.
Before I share about my recent trip to the Dominican, I want to ask you to pray for us! We are less than a month away from launching way out of our comfort zone! We are are so excited… yet there is so much that is unknown. As soon as we think we have taken our last BIG step of faith, the next leap appears! (See our prayer requests at the end of this post). Yet, confidently we move forward into the unknown, knowing that God is with us. We are so thankful for all the love, support and prayers that you have poured out on us this last month. We have already raised over ½ of the monthly support we need! Thank you!
My recent trip to the Dominican was exciting in so many ways. God is raising up, empowering and using some incredible pastors to begin a movement that will transform their communities. They believe that their nation is ready for true hope. Their vision is to raise up disciples who make disciples who will plant thousands of churches throughout their country in the next 5 years!
While we were there, Jared Nelms (International Director of TTI) helped this amazing team of pastors establish an effective training program for the pastors of their nation. The Holy Spirit moved powerfully in our time together. One pivotal moment was when Braulio (the visionary leader of this movement in the DR) said, “We need a paradigm shift our thinking.” This was the turning point in our time together and opened the door for us to create an incredible plan for their nation. God is faithful.
Pastor Braulio shared with us that he knows that God has called them to a ‘God sized’ mission and that the only way to accomplish it is through fervent prayer. Tomorrow, this group of pastors are going to go out to a Yamasá to meet with pastors/leaders of that region.
Please PRAY:
After this recent trip, it seems wise to immerse ourselves in the language and culture of South America for a season. Pray for wisdom for Michelle and me as we make some big decisions about where we will spend the next few months. Please pray for:
- Direction for where we should go to immerse ourselves in language learning while casting vision/training pastors in that area.
- God to move in the hearts of the pastors in Yamasá as Pastor Braulio and the the team will inspire, unite and train them to raise up disciples to transform their communities!
- Also pray that we will be able to raise the support we need for our mission ahead.
Thank you so much for partnering with us on this journey!
Here are the pastors that are heading out to Yamasá tomorrow! Pedro, Samuel, Braulio, Israel, Luis, Vidal, Alfredo, Luigi, Rafael. (Pastor Braulio is the one I have my right arm around).
I am so grateful for the specifics of what to pray for. I will print it out so I don’t forget anything. I’m so blessed to be a part of this journey with you and Michelle
Thank you so much Sharon! We know that prayer is the key. Thank you for being one of our faithful prayer warriors! We are so blessed by you!
Thanks, great article.
